I have a ford v8 engine 302 or 351 from early 70's It ...

I have a ford v8 engine 302 or 351 from early 70's It is on a c6 tranny and probably out of a pickup. I am installing it in a 68 mustang but it has no carbuetor. how can I tell which engine I have? How do I know what carburetor to buy?

on the block above the starter is a casting # that will give you model year and some info on engine. Also pull valve covers and top of heads will also have casting # to help ID engine. The 351 windsor and 302 are very simular only the 351 is taller and wider. Back in the 70s it could be a 351m out of truck and that is a all together different engine family much bigger than the 302 or 351w.
